He had a passion for playing washers and singing karaoke, especially to the tunes of Jimmy Buffet, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Willie Nelson. Known for his cooking skills, Ron loved grilling and was famous for his chili. Ron won numerous cook-offs, including qualifying for the prestigious Houston Go Texan Cook Off. Duane was the oldest of three boys born to Carl Duane Scheumack Sr. and Billie Julainne Scheumack in Victoria, Texas. Duane graduated from Allen Military Academy where he played both football and the drums. After high school, Duane enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served gallantly in Vietnam from January 1969 to January 1970. During his service, Duane earned the following medals and honors: the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal...
